02 Sport Trac
Hello all. What an awesome forum.
I have an 02 SportTrac I have had since day 1 with 13 miles. I baby it, synthetic oil, mobil1 filters the whole 9 yards.:) It has 42,000 miles on it and it has not given me one bit of a problem until I took it to the Ford dealer for the cruise control recall.:(
I have used the 4wd about 10 times here in Virginia Beach, and never had an issue with it until the last snow we got at Christmas (14.5 inches). I tried to put it in 4wd hi, and no light, noise, nothing. I put it in neutral, pushed the brake, tried 4wd lo, same thing, no light, shift, no nothing.
My question is could the Ford dealer have done something to blow a fuse or something to cause this issue?
Any help appreciated.

Thanks Much

Not likely. Disconnect the 4WD module and reconnect it and see if it changes anything.

Could be stuck 4x4 motor stuck due to lack of use.

Where is the 4x4 PCM

I checked the fuses, they are ok. So where is the PCM? I know its in the cabin on the right side, but where. BTW thanks for the help

Darn I forgot to mention that Advance Auto put a new battery in it 2 months ago. Nevermind about where the 4x4 PCM is located I found it. Gonna go do an unplug, wait and pray!

Right side kick panel, that's the 4x4 module, not the PCM or the GEM.

+1. Most likely it is the electric shift motor. That is a common problem. I will lock mine in 4-Hi about once a month year round and drive it straight on the street to my house (and unlock it before I park) just to exercise the shift motor.
