I'm do for inspection this month. Has anyone been through the dyno w/ their AWD ex? I'm worried theyre going blow somthing up, the truck only has 106,000 but last time they dyno'd one of my cars they blew the engine. Any experiences good or bad?

Move to Wisconsin.... No inspections:p:

I honestly wouldn't think your truck would have a problem, I'm at 118k and I drive mine pretty hard, I have a buddy who has an AWD with 270K or so on it, and he drives it hard too.. I really wouldn't be worried.

(And btw, thanks again for the front DS... figured out why it was vibrating.. I had the front connected wrong.. slightly.....lol... works flawlessly..)

They dyno 96+ there? Even NYC only does that for older cars. I know with an AWD car they just do an idle test with enhanced NY downstate emissions.

NJ Doesn't dyno anything, it's all done via the OBDII diagnostic port.
If any emission error codes are present, you fail.
If all is clear, you pass the emissions test.
The rest of the inspection is visual, lights ect. and then there's the brake test.

+1 on no dyno for OBD-II vehicles.

However, the state run inspection stations aren't too friendly. The inspections are done by idiots. My bone stock 2000 Ranger passed at South Brunswick, but they wouldn't pass my Mountaineer for a myriad of issues. They were harsh with the vehicle and the inspection criteria.

If in doubt, find a private mechanic to do it and pay him $75.

Yea there is no dyno in NJ. The inspection station in Flemington NJ will pass almost anything if you have any issues and the people who work there actually seem to know what they are doing. I passed last year without having an e-brake ha

That always seems to be an issue on the mountaineer... Thanks for the flemington tip!

Good to know, I didn't realize they didn't have to dyno it. I thought they just dyno'd everything. I'm going to bring it to the lakewood station after a trip to the mechanic. Thanks!
