Hello I have a 1997 Ford Explorer Limited with the V8 5.0L. I have no A/C and no matter what you put the thermostat on its nothing but hot air. I tried to put more A/C refregerant in to recharge it and the 5 cans i put in it wasn't enough to kick the compressor on. Do you think the compressor is bad or is it some other componet that runs the A/C?

Welcome to the site, may want to jump the sensor to see if the AC clutch kicks on for you.

what do you mean by jump the sensor? Not the greatest car expert

Even during the winter time with the heat we also have no control with temp control

If you want to test if the clutch is working you could jump the a/c pressure switch located on the acumulator/drier. un plug and jump to see if clutch starts. 5 cans may be too much pressure also.
If your clutch is working then see if the acumulator is getting cold. If so then I would look at the "Blend door issue".

Keep us posted.
