have any of you ever had it when you go out on a cold morning (or middle of the day or nigh etc)

and your system doesn't work...

the amp is on and everything but the subs don't wanna work unless they get warm

Rubber surround?

I read when rubber is cold it doesnt want to move and stiffens up. Over time this is damaging the rubber and it could rip. This is what I read over on the caraudio.com forums

Thats why most high end subs with huge surrounds have a durrable foam like surround because foam doesnt do this in cold weather

so what do u do?? Wait for your car to warm up before having subs hit??

no they don't work at all when it gets really cold.

this morning they didn't work at all.

then after work they worked just fine. weird

I know my friend up here has a huge box in the back of his blazer and He installed a portable Heater and but that in his box and it warms up the whole inside of the box and the subs stay warm, I don't know if its good for the subs or not but It looks like its working good for him as of now.

subs play better cold....all electrical components are more effecient with less in heat in them.

Also the colder the air the less dense it is, thus making it easier for your speakers to move the air. Stereos are louder in cold days.

People who compete often put portable air conditioners in the cabs of their cars before their run

I'm not really sure about your problem but never beat on cold subs. Yeah its true most electrical componets run better when cold but not subs. You can easily damage them. The reason compititors run a/c in there vehicles is to keep amps and compacitors cool. The last thing you want in the middle of your 30 second chance is an amp shutting down from heat.

amps will not overheat in a 5 second burp.

ACs is to cool down the air in the cabin.

to a point your subs will be fine in cold weather. anythign below freezing will really stiffen up your surround and could cause problems with it though.

K your talkin high end compitions then. I've heard of cooling the air but for real world stuff with real world subs cold hurts.

extreme cold would hurt...id say the magic mark would be freezing...below that be careful if you like. Personally ive never had a problem with cold speakers
