Hi Guys,

2006 Explorer Limited V8 4.6
Suddenly, last week I found out the heating system wasn't working. I only have lukewarm air whatever the position of the vents (I have a dual automatic control) driver, passenger, feet, defrost etc..

I have read about the blend door common problem but not sure about mine because I don't hear any clicks and every vent have the same temperature...

My coolant was too low. I filled it, did 200 km filled it again because it was still low but still no heat... The coolant was low (reserve empty and radiator a little bit low) probably because I replaced the radiator couple months ago, I don't see any leak and the engine oil is nice. Inlet and outlet of the heater core seem to be a the same temperature the hoses become hot. I am suspecting air bubbles but no overheat and I don't know how to bleed it...Also I get warmer air under engine load (accelerating)

Can someone help me please?

Thanks

Sounds like a coolant bleeding problem if you Google how to bleed a cooling system and you will find videos and other stuff on how to do it. That's where I would start if that doesn't work then post back here.

I thought that I found my problem...there was a broken collar on the coolant hose at the back of the truck under the rear heater core so there was a leak going on the exhaust pipe. This is why my coolant was getting low not because of the radiator replacement. However the heat problem is not fixed...At the back seat I have heat ( 3rd zone) but at the front (dual zone) I still only have heat when accelerating...

I don't think I have air bubbles but I think it could be the valve before the front heater core. How do I check that? Or I have a heater core leak ( I think it smelled coolant a little bit in the cab) or partially blocked heater core ( hoses hot on both side)

Anyone have a clue on how to diagnosis this?

Thanks
