looks good! i've been thinking about doing that myself, but i seem to be a door magnet these days. two door dings in a week! i may have to put that project off a while.

Looks good! I've been wanting to do the same thing to my 99 XLT.

How did you do it and protect the finish? Any tips?

It does look neater. I've done the pinstripe as well but I can get myself to part with the moulding just yet.

with the pinstripes i heated it up with a blowdryer in small sections and would peel it up, heat some more and peel that up, etc. It goes pretty quick taking of the stripes. The moulding is a different story. I just grabbed hold of it and peel it off which left the double sided foam junk. I found that a heat gun worked better than a blowdryer, but you could use either. I heated up small sections of the sticky foam and rubbed it off with my thumb (be ready for blisters!!). After all is said and done, just take wipe the areas down with a wet towel to clean off any dirt that was under the moulding and around the pinstripes. Then just give the areas that had been covered a good coat of wax and enjoy!

getting rid of the molding and the pinstripes ALLWAYS looks good on an X, no matter what style it is...
