Hi all, I've been working on my non-operational cruise control, and have now come to the conclusion that I do not have power to my wheel. I have a non-operational horn, and the cruise does not work. I checked the fuses on the panel on the dash, and they were all good. I have tried two sets of switches, and the horn buttons do not work for me, and neither do the spare set of cruise buttons.

I noticed that there are two wires that are cut, but I don't know if this is supposed to be this way, or if something happened. Here are some pics showing the wires, the orientation of the plugs, etc., etc...

Any help would be appreciated! The cruise/horn is the only thing not working on my new-to-me-X!

<PICS REMOVED TO SAVE BANDWITH!>

:thumbsup:

You said you checked the dash (inside cab) fuses but on my 99 the HORN RELAY fuse is under the hood in that fuse panel. Iv blown 3 horn relay fuses in the past six months, i beleive its also the cruise but i dont use my cruise so im not sure. If its the same, i have a 99 Sport 4.0, its fuse #10 under the hood, a small 15amp bulb fuse. Ill bet ya thats ur problem. And remember when you find the Horn Relay fuse just replace it, you cant always tell by looking at them. If you have your owners manual they will have a complete fuse diagram of both panels, if not check in the stickys here and you might find a manual online.....:) good luck

Thanks guys, I'll check the horn relays tonight, I have some spares I think... I didn't mess with those becasue in the manual I borrowed it didn't say anything about cruise on the relay, but I guess it makes sense that they would be together...

Thanks for the help! :thumbsup:

well, I don't think that the wires are supposed to be cut... regardless of how bad NA car manufacturers are.... that is not how things get "terminated". Anyways, IF my 96 drawings are "close" and I "read" your picture right, #2 pin is feeding your horn...the connectors are different in pin counts but that's my "guess".

You say "2 wires" but I can't see where the other wire is cut? which pin and which connector?

After further reading.... I take everything back... :-)

pin 2 on the right hand side is "not used" so cut, not cut, doesn't matter.... so maybe NA car manufacturer are "awful"... :-)

I still don't know what other "cut wire" you are referring to ... please point out

We have a winner!

Well thanks for the help, fatcat wins the virtual prize, here was the culprit:

I may have evenutally gotten there, but would not have checked it first, because I wouldn't have put horn relay and cruise control not working together as my first choice... :thumbsup: I even had a 20amp on the shelf from one of my trips to the boneyard!!! Everything works great now!

Thanks again fatcat! ...gee- looks like I need to vacuum my carpet, too :D

Good deal, glad its all workin now. Sometimes it pays bein the cheap azz that i am.....then again sometimes it doesnt.
