98 S'ploder XLT. Can't get any fluid to come out the rear washer. Where is the pump and tank for the rear? It used to work, I've only owned the truck since this past spring. Front windshield washer works fine.

65,500 miles and counting till the rattle starts on my SOHC.

BTW - these trucks are a blast in the snow it's my first 4WD vehicle.

This site is awsome, thanks to all for the fixes and tips I've got from here.
Now please help me get some washer fluid onto my rear window.

The tank (on my 95) is in the left rear and you have to raise the hatch to fill it. There is a rubber cap near the taillight assembly and the tank it's self is inside the removable panel where the jack is stored.

Scratch that. I had a 93 x and that had a rear tank but 97 and newer have only one tank located in the front of the truck. The pump appears to be in the lower part of the reservoir tank. So to get at it i think you would have to remove the tank.

"Scratch that. I had a 93 x and that had a rear tank but 97 and newer have only one tank located in the front of the truck."

That was why I specified mine was a 95 X, I wasn't certain a 98 was the same.

Yeah it gets fluid from the front... sometimes the hose that runs through the wiper arm can move out of place and get pinched... or it can maybe the sprayer is clogged.

My '97 XLT AWD has a separate tank located in the left rear for the rear wiper...for whatever that's worth. The fill cap is just over the left rear tail light.

My 98 XLT only has one tank in the front.

Did you try running the pump with the rear hose disconnected from the nipple? This will tell you if the orifice is plugged.

I also remember reading in my service manual there is a check valve in the rear washer line to keep the line full of fluid. That check valve may be stuck.

Starting in 98, the washer pump in the FRONT and ONLY reservoir is a bidirectional pump. Run it one way and it feeds the front, run it the other way and it feeds the back.

The first thing we need to know is does the motor run when the button is pushed? If so, then we need to look at the plumbing. If not, we need to look at the electrical side.

HELP! Mountaineer washer fluid not working

When I push the button to wash the windshield (front & Back) it doesn't work? I don't hear the noise when I do it so I am thinking its electrical? Also, I lost the manual to find out the fuse or relay information? Can someone help me!!!:(

No fluid to rear wiper only

I have a 98 Explorer and there is no wiper fluid tank in the rear. The front it full and the front sprays it just doesn't seem to spray in the rear. I took the hose off to see if the nib was clogged. Also the rear wiper doesn't work could it have been disconnected at the rear wiper?

Swap front and rear relays and see if that helps. If not, check for power from the switch at the appropriate pin on the relay.
