No Running Lights on Trailer

Hey

I am in need of some help. I am getting ready to move and I need to trailer some motorcycles but the my 99 Explorer Sport does not have any running lights on the trailer. If I hook the trailer to a different SUV it works fine so I am pretty sure it is not the trailer.

The SUV running lights still work fine so it is somewhere in the trailer lights but I am not sure. I have tried tracing it back and just can't figure it out. Is there an inline fuse somewhere?

Any Suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I use a tester that verifies proper wire placement on the outlet and plug.
You may need to use a test light and check them one by one.
You don't mention if it is 4 wire or 7 pin.

Check The fuse under the hood, that was my issue.

recently this weekend i experienced the same problem what fuse would this be?

fixed mine... was the #25 fuse under the dash

I've got no running lights and no brake lights. The turn signals and flashers work. 94 EX EB. Plugged into trailer harness round-7 terminal inboard of bumper, passenger side.

Checked fuses under dash and under hood, i.e. fuse box and distribution box. They are OK.

Please post any solution for this you may know.

it's probably the ground...

try adding a groud wire (on the tow rig, from the trailer plug to the frame, if it works then use the groud you just ran and forget the stock ground wire)

Thanks for the ground reminder. I've tried that and my running lights are still out.

I got brake lights by disconnecting the battery for ten minutes and reconnecting it. See the second link below for details. Now I have all lights except for the running lights.

The three trailer harness relays are above the driver side rear wheel in the jack compartment. I can hear the relay for the trailer running lights click. I switched in a known good relay and the lights are still out.

Very good info here including why there are multiple grounds in the Ford 7 to 4 adapter:

More good info including battery disconnecting to reset circuits:

I'm going at it again today with my test meter (vom).
