alright so friday night my car got broken into and all my stuff got stolen so now im trying to reinstall my factory stereo since driving around with no music sucks almost as much as having everything stolen. I reconnected all the wires and everything was working fine until i turned the headlights on and all the sound stopped. Also i just relized when i turn the car off the radio display still stays on and i dont think it ever used to do that. It looks like i have all the wires matched up correctly but maybe i mixed something up ill have to look again when i have more light and time. The only thing i think it could possibly be was that there are to red/black wires, if those were switched could it possibly cause something like this, or is it something else.
Thanks for any help

Think you have the dimmer wire connected to the power, so when the headlights go on, you interior dims not supplying enought power to the stereo.

when i cut into the factory harness i left a few inches left on the plugs on the factory headunit. So i reconnected all the wires back to the same colors a rechecked four times to make sure. Could possibly one of the wires have been cut back in the dash on some piece of metal when they yanked out the after market one that could cause this problem?

This might sound dumb..but are you starting the car..or just turning it on?

Reason I ask is because a while back when I hooked up my old radio in a car, I had everything hooked up right. When I turned the car on (Didnt start it) and put on the headlight, my radio would die out. Spent all night checking wires and rechecking them...Turns out everytime I turned on the lights, it was a drain on the battery and killed the radio...Started up the car, turned everything on and it was good

no the cars running and driving and everything.
