I just installed a after market GPS DVD Radio in my 1997 Explorer XLT and everything works fine except the sound, I think it is equipped with a amplifier how do I locate it and how do I bypass it

Mine was the same way,

I hooked the amp power wire up from the new headunit, Mine was blue, my metra harness had a matching blue amp wire connected them together and got sound.

Hope this helps

Josh

I would take this to the Audio/Navigation section. You will find some very sharp guys lurking around there.

Your amp can be either powered like talkled about above, or can be bypassed. The amp is located behind the large plastic trim piece in the passenger cargo area. That whole plastic piece comes out. You have to pull all the round plastic clips that hold it in. Sometimes it's easier to remove the seat belt anchor. You need a large torx bit for this, but it isn't 100 percent necessary.
