replaced starter and solenoid but still won't start. turn key and gauges power up and nothing else happens

If it's not even cranking, I would check wiring and all connections. There is a possibility you got a bad starter right out of the box, too. If all the wires and battery cables look ok and are properly connected, smack the starter with a hammer and test the bad starter theory.

Maybe you hooked it up wrong. Do you hear the solenoids clicking? If so, which one, the firewall or starter one? Which solenoid are you jumping to get it to start?
