 TRUCK HAS BEEN GETTING HOT (BIG SURPRISE IN 110 DEGREE PHOENIX) SO I DECIDED TO BUY A THERMOSTAT. ON THE WAY HOME, RPM'S STARTING SURGING UP AND DOWN ON THE FREEWAY. STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT AND TRIED TO GO BUT TRUCK JUST STOOD STILL LIKE IN NEUTRAL. I FINALLY GOT IT GOING AT MAX SPEED OF 20, LUCKILY CLOSE TO HOME. TRIED TO START THIS MORNING AND IT WILL TURN LIKE ITS TRYING TO START BUT WONT. THE GAS IS LOW BUT UNLESS THE GAUGE IS WAY OFF, IT SHOULD START. WILL CHANGING THE THERMOSTAT FIX THIS OR IS IT A NEW PROBLEM ALL TOGETHER? ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Changing the t-stat won't make it start. How hot did the engine get? If you think it might be out of gas, dump a couple of gallons in it. You need to determine if the engine is getting fuel and spark, to help narrow down where the problem is.

It Got Hot But The Gauge Never Went Into The Red. I Am On My Way To Pick Up A Few Gallons Of Gas To See If That Helps. Hopefully That Will Fix It As I Am At A Loss As To What Else It Could Be. Thanks For Your Response!

Okay, Added Gas And Still Will Not Start. Could It Be The Temperature Sensor Or Something Similar? I Still Think That The Problems Have To Be Related. Thanks!

Does it turn over normal? Check your coolant level. If it got to hot it could be possible that you damaged the motor. Also if you were really low on fuel you might have an airlock in the fuel system. When was the last time the cooling system was flushed. If you don't know it would be a good idea to do this. Add a cleaner to the coolant, let it run for however long the directions state, drain, flush with water, and add new coolant.

It Does Turn Over Like Normal, Just Wont Start. Tried Starting Fluid, Still Does Not Start. Is It Possible That It Is One Of The Sensors? Thanks For Your Help!

Yes, it is possible it's one of the sensors...or one of many other things that can go wrong. Still need to determine if your engine is getting fuel and spark. Are you handy when it comes to working on your X? Take a look at the spark plug wires...do they look ok? Also check voltage on the battery.

If It Was The Battery, I Would Think It Wouldnt Turn At All. The Spark Plugs Are Fine But I Found That There Is No Spark. What Is The Best Way To Check If Its Getting Fuel. I Am Getting Desperate Now As It Has To Be Fixed No Later Than Tomorrow. Any Help Is Great! Thanks!

I Think I Am Narrowing It Down! The Eec Fuse Has Blown Twice So Now What?
