So I installed a replacement engine in my '98 4x4 SOHC nothing happens when i turn the key but i can start the car and drive it by jumping the starter relay. when it shifts from 2nd to 3d it slips and will not go past 40mph, if i manually shift it to 2nd and leave it it runs fine but i haven't taken it past 40 because the rpm's will start to go past 3k.

so I diligently searched this forum and came up with a couple of possibilities,
1. the neutral start swithc (where is it? how to test it?)
2. the Electronic Pressure Control Solenoid (where is it? how to test it?)
3. the modulator (where is it? how to test it?)
4. the Transmission Range Sensor (where is it? how to test it?)

I think that is all i learned so far.

also the tranny had no problems and the vehicle started fine prior to swapping engines so it has to be something I did in the process...:(

any thoughts?
