Well at idle while in drive I get this strange noise that bothers the crap out of me. Its sort of like a grinding/vibration sound. When I give it some gas it goes away and if its in park or neutral it goes away. So anyone know a fix for this? Thanks alot.

I am having a similar noise and I believe it has something to do with the torque converter or flywheel. I am used to working on the Mustang, never had the engine out of an X, but there is a thin metal plate between the bell housing and the engine. There is some rust on the bottom of the truck, so I am thinking maybe this plate has rusted and come loose and it is hitting the flywheel? This is completely a guess for my truck. It has two sounds, a light rattle/scrap, and an intermitent(sp) squeak.

Sounds like what I had and look what it turrned out to be....

Mine has no squeak, just a sort of deep buzzing sound kind of like something vibrating. Doesn't always do it. I searched and found alot of people's problems to be the IAC so I will clean mine this weekend and see if it does anything. Anything else it could be guys?

Perhaps a loose heat shield somewhere under there?
That's what mine was!

My 01 does the exact same thing. It sounds terrible. I haven't been able to get under there and check it out yet.
