Hey i have a 94 Sport 4x4 and when you accelerate sometimes it makes a knocking noise in the engine bay and another weird noise, i'm thinking the other noise has something to do with my exhaust though, any help would be appreciated though, thanks

Sounds like engine knock - I have a weird noise too, it sounds like air escaping from somewhere but I haven't had the change to look... whats the easiest way to check for an exhaust leak?

Can you be more specific about the sound?? Is it at certain RPMs or is it constant? Do you hear it at idle?

I mostly hear when it is higher than 3000 rpms, or i'm at highway speed trying to pass or just accelerating faster.

Sounds like spark knock aka "ping". Seems to be common to these 4.0 OHV engines. lots of potential fixes, do a search for ping and see if you find something to help you.

hrm, ya that does sound like a ping.. does it do it at idle? or seem to be temperature related? I know my truck clicks when it hasn't ran for long.. you can hear it all the way up to highway speeds and is 100% related to rpms.. but I am unable to locate where its coming from..

does tha tsound familiar or would you not describe it that way?

if yours is a ping.. you may want to try changing your gas brand, or octane to see if it goes away, I didn't read all the other posts but someone else has problablly said this already
