'97 5speed with 130000mi. Changed clutch, etc at 100000 with centerforce dual friction, and cleaned out and replaced fluid with Mobil 1.
Just started getting this noise under deceleration or coasting. It sorta clicks/jerks every second or so--not consistant, worse at lower gears. I trired downshifting from 4th to 3rd slowing down and when I left the clutch out, it just made grinding sound like it wasnt going in gear. I can downshift and accelerate OK and shift up all the time. Now today, another new noise that threw me. I pulled in to park, left it idle in neu and got back, reversed, pulled out and up to stop sign. went to pull out and sounded like a bad Ujoint. continued a couple of blocks easy till I could pull off in a lot to crawl under. Felt all the shafts and were good. Backed out, pulled out, and that noise was now gone...???!!!
I know the output shaft of the xfer case has excessive play, but don't think that would cause this?
