i repeatedly hear that little motor hum when i press the brakes and hold.....usually kicks in as the vehicle is coming to a stop.....although at that very point i also feel a fluctuation in the pedal. I just had the rotors cut along with new pads. The truck brakes nice and even, no pulling to either side...so i know the calipers are fine as well. Is this an ABS problem? as they are soo sensitive. HELP! thankx

Blown front hub seals. If you pull the ABS sensor out of the hub(s), you'll probably find that the toner ring is full of grease. This scews with the pulses sent to the ABS unit causing the "Almost to a stop" activation. The new hubs seals are a little better and the hubs also come with the newer, more stronger pulsed version ABS sensors.

how can I confirm this?

how can I see if this is the problem, what must I remove.?...please explain in detail if you can....Thank You!

If you are AWD or 4WD then the hub will cost you about $325 from the dealership (just the part, labor not included). The sensor can't be replaced without replacing the whole hub assembly. It will be alot cheaper if you are 2wd.

maxxus, To check an see if the seal(s) are blown on the hub, then perform the following. Pull the tire off and then the caliper/rotor assembly. Then you will see the ABS sensor bolted into the hub. Unbolt the sensor and slowly work the sensor out of the hub(they set in pretty tight). After pulling the sensor out, look into the hole while slowly turning the hub. If you see any grease on the toner ring, the hub seal is blown and this is your problem. I replaced both of mine on my 97 Sport. They cost me $153 each. The new hubs were already loaded with the new updated ABS sensors. If no grease on the toner ring or anywhere, you just may only need to replace both front ABS sensors. Also note that a flakey rear(axle mounted) ABS sensor can also cause the same scenario.
