I recently bought a slightly used 2008 Ford Explorer (Eddie Bauer ed) with only 21k on it at a pretty decent price. It has lots of bells and whistles on/in it, but I'm a simple guy and don't really need all the fancy stuff. I do like the Sync part though...pretty handy when driving and playing tunes from my Droid.

Anyways....my biggest complaint is the damn alarm system. I'm not really sure if this was stock or after-market. I think maybe after-market because the remotes I got from the dealer are not the typical Ford remotes. I hate that this truck arms itself right after I get out ( like pumping gas). I tried to go through the computer settings to turn the alarm off or at least....the auto-arming part, but no dice.

I went through a pretty fair amount of posts on this forum and couldn't find anyone with a similar complaint. I used to have a Sport-Trac that had just a passive red beacon thingy and this model I have now...also has that - but the alarm will go off if I'm sitting in the truck (after turning it off) because it arms itself after the ignition is off. I open the door and voila....there she blows. I'd love to be able to leave the damn thing unlocked if I choose to - you know...running in and out of the convenience store without having to use the remote entry...because if I just use the key....the damn thing goes off. If I use the keypad entry.....goes off! It's a complete pain in my ass.

Anybody have any words of wisdom for me? It's actually a blamy day in Pennsylvania today, so if I need to work outside...today's a good day to do it. Hook me up guys....thanks in advance for the info!

first you need to determine what type of alarm is in the vehicle. post a pic of the remotes and this may be a place to start.
