I have a 95 Sport with 115,000 miles on the engine. I have been contemplating getting NOS and headers for it. Will these mods be really bad on my engine? I'll prolly have my X for another 2 years or so depending, and i wouldnt use the nitrous abusively. Let me know any info u have on these mods thanks!

the headers will really help... the nos might not be good though but i am not sure... nos normally harms engine longevity a little bit

The NOS will probably blow up your engine with such high mileage. Supercharger would too. I've got 108K on mine and everyone says if you want to do anything that's going to make the engine work harder, get it rebuild well first. The headers, on the other hand, would not hurt the engine at all and probably help out.

The number one cause of engine failure when running NOS is blowby. If the engine even has the slightest amount of blowby the NOS is able to enter the crankcase. Once in the crankcase the NOS will heat up(due to engine tempature) and eventually if you get the right amount of gas and tempature in the crankcase the engine will turn inside out. Save your money and leave the NOS for the ricers.

I would go for a supercharner instead of NOS. also how well was the engine taken care of? was the oil changed often? was synthatic used? If your ehgine was taken care of very well, i think you could still get by with a supercharger. I mean some guys run their engines to 300K without a rebuild...so your engine is not even half warn down.....

i was watching drag racing on espn and they had a nitros vs aupercharger blowout and the supercharger won everytime. i would get the motor rebuilt and then have the supercharger. of course after a good rebuilt and cost of s/c your looking at 5k easy. figure $1400 on a quality rebuild. you can have it rebuilt as cheap as $600 but that is at a side of the road hole in the wall type of place. i watched a crank and chrome on rebuilding and the tall guy (i think his name is tom or bill i cant remember) had his explorer in there and had the engine rebuilt. it cost $1400 for a premium rebuild. of course you can go to the sky with performance parts.

How big of a shot of juice are we talking about here? I would feel safe up to 75hp or so. You just need to make sure that your fuel system is up to snuff. Your 115k fuel pump is probably pretty tired. I would replace the fuel pump w/an uprated one. Pull the injectors and have them cleaned and flow tested by a reputable shop. I would also install a mixture gauge along with the NOS kit. As long as you have a good tune(RICH MIXTURE) and it doesn't lean out on the juice that tired old motor should do just fine with a 75 shot. But if it leans out and starts detonating kiss it goodbye.

If this is your daily driver and only car I would skip the squeeze and the blower for now and save the dough to rebuild the engine. Then throw a 125hp shot at that motha!

As far as the blow by theory goes. Definitely do a compression leak down test on the motor before spraying it. If your rings are bad...see above paragraph....Jim

That sounds fun, but are you sure when you say you would use it kindly? I know I would probably lay on the nitrous! I too have thought about it, it is cheaper than the super charger and in city (stop and go) traffic a super charger causes the engine to work harder.

I'd do a small shot, most likely 50-75 hp shot. But about the last thing i want to do is mess up my engine!
