I just found out from the repair shop I go to that the lower intake gaskets are leaking again!! I had them replaced at 25,000 and at 51,000 with the 00m12 kit, but they are leaking again. My question is, How many times have you people had yours replaced. This is going on the third time for me and it might be up for sell in the near future.

sure its the intake gaskets? it could be just a simple O2 sensor or a dirty MAF. Have you got the codes checked??

That's what we thought, but when he took the lower intake off all the
o-rings around the intake were wet with fuel. I just put new 02 sensors on and a new MAF and there are no codes.

Im not too familiar with the sohc motor but is it possible the manifold could be warped?

Nope, Tech said lower intake manifold checked out fine, just the O-rings. Did however replace the upper intake from a salvaged explorer because it was warped. On the way home today it purred like a kitten at idle and no more engine sputter. I was just curious if anyone else has had this problem.

I,ve heard that Ford never really solved the issue of the cam chain tensioner and O-rings. Maybe someone will come out with an aluminum intake someday for the SOHC.
