While doing this test, do not touch gas pedal.
1. Try this, turn key on with out starting 3 times for about 20 seconds.
Listen for fuel pump to run.
2. See if car starts.
Also a possibility the ECM/ECU (whichever it is) could be on the way out. That, and trying to suddenly stall when driving, were the two main symptoms I saw when mine was on the way out.
Another possibility is a fuel system that is loosing pressure.
If the test that @Gary Crist suggested makes it start (and you do hear the fuel pump) then it could also just be the fuel system is losing pressure. Either from the check valve (I think that's actually on the fuel pump), leaking fuel pressure regulator (assuming no external leak) or even a leaking injector. If the FPR is bad/leaking you'll find it in the hose connected to the fuel pressure regulator (passenger side, connected to the fuel rail).
I am assuming that it's idling at the right speed too. The IAC is what is supposed to give you the "no touch" start and it also controls the idle. If your idle is lower than normal the IAC may be bad/stuck (it's bolted to the side of the upper plenum).
