its a 98 explorer xlt 4x4 4.0 sohc. I've been reading through the plentiful posts on this issue but haven't come across exactly what mine is doing. I have no reverse in 4h 4L, I do have manual 1st gear, but no engine breaking, however I don't have engine breaking in 2nd either, so all 3 forward gears work, the over drive does not, thats one of the recall deals I have to get taken care of. any way the 4x4 works.
my girlfriend was driving it a few months ago and said it just felt like it slipped out of gear when she put it in rev. and that was the last time it worked. any help that might keep me from replacing or rebuilding the tranny would be appreciated
