I just put in: Alpine 2 channel MRV-T320 Amp, Two Alpine E 12" Subs, Phase 2 Q-logic box.

I'm not getting that 'punch' I'm looking for exactly, and when I turn my factory system up the speakers basically are just asking me to stick a knife in them :(

I was wondering what the best way to get more quality out of the speakers was, and the best way to get more bass out of those nice subs I know I have.

Should I install a new cd reciever? Install a new 4 channel amp for my speakers? or get new speakers?

or mix and match and you tell me

Thanks

i'd do new cd reciever, then new speakers, and a 4 channel amp if those new speakers need it. Hope you get what you're looking for!

Also, how many watts is that amp you mentioned

How is your system set up? I see no mention of crossovers or filters which may explain a lot!

i was assuming the amp has built in filter/cross over. I haven't seen one without actually.

Got me, I can check though give me a sec.

ok i can help you out. The amplifier you have puts out 80 watts, so about 40 to each subwoofer. You're speakers handle up to 200 watts. Your problem is that you are starving the subwoofers, they want more power!!!

Actually i just looked, and it has 220 watts bridged RMS. This may be good ok for what you want. Make sure you have the amp bridged. And wire the speakers parallel because the amp can handle a 2 ohm load.

Dead Link Removed

"Figure 2A shows how to wire a pair of speakers in parallel. A wire from the positive terminal of one channel of the amp is wired to the positive terminals on BOTH speakers A and B. (The simplest way to do this is to run a wire from the amp terminal to Speaker A and then run a second wire from that terminal to Speaker B.) Then the negative terminal of the same amp channel is wired in like fashion to the negative terminals on both speakers. The second channel is wired the same way. "

Bridging the amp means you will only have one channel. Normally this is done by using a + from one channel and a - from the other, to make a single channel that is the power of the other 2 combined. You can then run the + wire to the + on BOTH speakers, and the - wire to the - on BOTH speakers.
This will set you up with around 220 watts, much better than 80 watts.

Hope this helps you out. if you have any questions about what i said just ask

I'd get a bigger amp for your subs. How is your gain set? Does the amp get hot?
Then I'd at least change the door speakers, and if you could add a deck and amp for your highs.

if you're looking for more bass, then you need a bigger amp if bridging it doesn't produce enough power, each sub is 200 watts RMS, thats the continous power they need to have, to run-if bridging it doesn't give you the sound you want i would suggest a higher output amp.......

Also dont forget the head unitl is the most important part of the system, if a nice clean powerful signal is not sent from thehead unit no amp in the world is gonna turn it into gold....

I agree you dont have enough power to those subs, its all about planning. You have to plan out a system, dint just piece it together if you really want quality.

Also if you do run that amp at a 2ohm load you might want to consider a stiffening cap to ensure it gets a steady stream of 12+ volts................

I am going to pick up my new Kenwood Music Keg in less then an hour! wooooohooooooooooooOO I have been wanting to add this bad boy to my system for some time now............

I had it installed at circuit city, I am going out today to 'tune' the amp if you will and I will check out how he wired it up after installation.

Well I think it was me that was the problem, he had it wired correctly. (What can I say the guy knows his stuff)

I went and turned the music down to 2 clicks ( factory receiver) and the bass pumped. yesterday I had sat in the drivers seat all day and had the music basically cranked. What was jacking me up must of been the bass coming from factory speakers, the subs hit pretty damn nice when your sitting in the back seat :) thanks for everyones help and I think I will be getting some 6x8 pioneer 3 way speakers and an Alpine head unit sometime soon

Maybe you turned it up so loud that the subs cut out. It happens

not cranked all the way up but enough ;) You guys think I should get a new head unit or new speakers first?

build a big ported box and the bass will come!

If it's going to be a while I'd prob. get the speakers. But either will be an improvement in sound.

get the head unit...the ford factory units send a horrible signal to subs, make sure and get a head unit. It will be a night and day difference, it was for me.

Well I'l ordering both an Alpine CDM-7874 CD Receiver, and 2 pairs of Pioneer TS-A6867 6"x8" 3-way Speakers

sound good fellas? anything else I should need? and I also have $50.00 in gift cards from Circuit City, think that and a little extra would cover installation?

and do you think the Alpine CDM-7874 CD will work with my 6 disc factory changer in the center console?

The only thing that would be ok to get installed would be the HU, some times they even offer free instalation of HU's (+5 wiring harness). The speakers are an easy instalation, just pry off the pannel and install.
