Nothing for months then all at once #2

I'll save all the boring detail and moaning for the #1 thread!! But there is something else I need to remedy...

I notice when the car is parked, that when looking from the rear, my Explorer is lower on the left than the right and when I lock or unlock the car, occaisonally there sounds like a string buzzing noise coming from the rear auto-levelling suspension area!!

Any thoughts oh Gurus and fellow money pit owners!

Sounds like you might have a leaking n/s shock. Does the self levelling actually pump it up at all?

Well that is truly the wierd thing, I could swear that sometimes its level and sometimes not. If I think carefully, then, it probably only looks lop sided after some time parked up...

and maybe that buzzing noise is the pump, but why would that only buzz when I trigger the remote lock??

That would suggest that one shock is slowly leaking. The pump only works when doors are opened or shut.

aha! (scratches chin knowingly)

So its either a new shock or do away with the self-levelling suspension altogether and get some 'real' shocks on there.

Of course, I suppose it could be a tube leaking rather than the shock itself...

I have the air ride suspention on my 98 Expedition been making niose for as long as I have owned it, Dealer said it was a noisy compressor and possible slow leak. It still rides nice and keeps itself up unless it has been parked offangle or for a long time.
