I was going home from church tonight and out of the blue my overdrive off light just started flashing. It flashed for 5 to 10 seconds and then it quit. I immediatly pulled over and the manual said that when it flashes it needs to be serviced? True or not? The overdrive works fine. I did a search on this on the site and most of the replies were to reset the computer. I just changed my plugs and wires 2 weeks ago and I didn't reset the computer. Could this be a reason it flashed? Do I need to reset the computer just to be safe? TIA

Plugs and wires probably don't have anything to do with it because it's a transmission code. Just reset the computer, you'll probably be ok after that. Also, make sure to have your tranny's fluid changed at least every 30k miles. Also consider synthetic tranny fluid. And lastly, if you don't already have a transmission oil cooler, you may want to add one of those to extend the life of your tranny.

If the trans O/D light did flash than the computer will have a stored code in memory. The only way to get the code is to use a scanner. The computer probably detected a fault.
