O/D off light flashing

I was driving down the road today in my '98 EB Explorer and noticed that the Overdrive light was flashing. If I turned O/D off, the RPM jumped so it was shifting out of overdrive, but the light kept flashing no matter what. What could this mean? I've never heard of this before.

The OD light flashing is rather like a "Check engine light" for the transmission. Have the code pulled and let us know what it is.

well now it stops, and all seems fine. ill try and pull a code anyway tomorrow.
