Has anyone had problems with their O/D light flashing? What was it? My transmission is not having any problems. Only have about 68,000 miles on motor. Would appreciate any help or info. Would like to have a little info befor I take it in to the transmission shop.

Any help appreciated. Thank you, Marilyn

Try this turn your key from off to run 6 times to reset the PCM or try removeing your battery cable and if that works change you trany fluid to be safe. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the site!! You'll find everything you want to know about your truck right here!! Welcome aboard!

Now about the O/D light...it could mean so many things. Could be nothing at all, or it could mean a rebuild is in order. Since you said that you aren't having any problems with the tranny, it might be nothing. Mine started flashing a while back just out of the blue. Took it to the tranny shop, they reset the computer and it hasn't returned. Try disconnecting the battery for about a half hour or so to reset the computer. If the light doesn't come back, then you are set. If it does come back, take it to the shop and get the code read to see what it is.

I had the same problem on my 98 SOHC. It turned out to be the Torque Converter Clutch solenoid that went bad. tpalm had a TSB for this and you might want to look to see if it's for the same years by doing a search for tpalm. The total for me to get it fixed was about $250.00 most of it for labor.

Here's the TSB for a Flashing O/D light...

99-8-6 MAY 99 O/D Transmission Lamp Flashing/Codes P0741, P1740.

$250 to replace a TCC solenoid ?? That's unreal!! :(

My O\D And 4FWD dash lights have been goofing on me since the day I owned the car.
I have no driving problems. I just reset the computer. I'm told the comptuter thinks they are in a postion that they are not. It works everytime for me.

AND then I wait till the next time they decide they want to come out and play again. They think they are funny or something. I get very pissed but only for a few seconds.

I also think something may need cleaning or more use under there.

Listen to the other guys and make sure you don't have something major.

I have the flashing O/D light as well as a check engine. My scanner says (2 codes) I have a low EGR flow rate and that something is wrong with my torque converter circuit.

I read that the "transmission range sensor" has to do with both your EGR and your torque converter. I am going to try and get that replaced.

Anyone had an EGR flow rate problem? it's not my EGR, I had it changed 6 months ago.
