Finished!

New O2 sensor is in. Piece of cake with the correct tool, about 10 min. to run that tap through, threads came out perfect. Helps to have the right tools. :D

New Sensor....

Cleared the ECU and ran up to the store and back, need to put some miles on it for all the tests to complete but initial readings look good. This is a screen capture, I replaced Bank 2 Sensor 1 lower right of the screen. It read 0 volts before I changed it and the short term trim was maxed out. Could explain why I was only getting about 9 mpg.

I didn't correct the labels for Long Term Trim when I created this graph, the two gauges under throttle position are Long term trim bank 1 on left, bank 2 on right.

Thankfully BrooklynBay suggested getting a real tap before I got POed and ground the thing off. Thanks again to everyone who posted.
And now, on to other repairs.

Thanks for the update! It's good to have the correct tools for each job. :D

Wish I had that Tap the day I torched that sensor out. Would have been a two hour job, counting drinking beer and listening to the Cub Game. :)

Summer Truck repair. I just ordered the by-pass filter setup for the F350 7.3 powerstrok, need to replace the pinion seal in the X and on and on it goes.
One little repair at a time, winter is tough on the trucks, lots of miles put on with no service work. Just turned 350K on the F350 and 20K on the Explores new engine. I need to start caring more for these trucks..

Peace Out

Bob

I hope you used anti seize on the new O2 sensor.

I hope to get one more year out of the converters, then all new exhaust, O2 senders and all. The threads on the new O2 sensor had a nice heavy coat of anti-size. Bosch brand, a friend gave me all four. I have two more left. Hope to save those for the new exhaust.
