I've reviewed many threads and they have been very helpful! I'm replacing my Bosche O2 sensor in a '91 (it has only 1 sensor). I've tried to buy one at 4 supply stores only to find that the wiring harness is 5" too short! What's the deal? Can I substitute a differrent sensor w/ a longer harness? I don't want to splice it. Autoparts salesmen haven't a clue why the replacement wires are short.

Where are you disconnecting the sensor from? Under the hood or by the exhaust pipes? The one you need to disconnect is by the exhaust pipes. Are you trying to using a Bosch 02 sensor?

They sensor I'm trying to replace says Bosche and also has a Ford stamp. The replacements I try to purchace are Bosche. There is only one connection on this harness near the firewall and the sensor is right before the Cat. where ther to headers meet.

Go to Ford and see if they have one in stock to look at to see if it too is 5 inches too short. If they have a special one and it will work, pay the price since knowone else has it. However, if Ford's also is too short and you bring in the sample (if possible) then you are at the right place to nail them to the wall for why yours is different. Just a thought.

I went to Bosch's website and found part number 13128 for your year. Is this the number the part stores are giving you?

Thanx Jim for the research. I finally got an O2 sensor to specs for my 91 without having to go to Ford! Yeah! NAPA had the correct one. I think the problem is the replacement was Bosch without the Ford stamp. I had to take the Ford stamp number off the original. 4 suppliers tried to sell me the wrong one and one (Pep boys) said the short harness is for the upstream sensor. But 91 owners will realize that the 91 only has 1 sensor!
BTW the Ford stamp number is F1UF. The NAPA part is OS212.
Thanx for the help.

Thats wierd. I just looked it up and got

Bosch number 15718 OE or 15729
Autozone gave number 15715

Autozone said they did not have it in stock, so I gave them the OE number from the Bosch site and they have 2. I guess I should take my old one off first to see if it matches.
