The 95 and later V6 engines should have 3. Two on each side of the engine after the exhaust manifolds and one after the CAT. That is what my 96 OHV engine has.
Aright, i brought it into the shop and a new exhaust is going on from the manifolds back. I have bought new catalytic converter, just wanted to make sure the guy knew where to put it.
i have 4 on mine ive got 2 cats... i was looking under the truck and i found tehm all but is it humanly possible to unplug the tires at all? how the hell do u get to them?!?! Also when you pull them out how do u know if it is the bad one? will it be completly blown apart or retarted looking? id rather do the job myself if i can... please help
You might want to check with the dealer as there is an 80K Federal mandated warranty on cats. I don't know about NY, but in Californa you can be fined for replacing good cats. To get the O2 sensors off you just have to get a crowsfoot wrench to get them loose. I had to remove the skidplate that protects the transfercase because of the 4X4.
the 02 sensors are a ***** to get at but you can get to them if you are sneaky and use the correct wrench. The hardest part is getting to the damn plugs on top of the transmission to release the wires and plug them back in...at least on my 96 5.0L.
