does anyone know what an o2 simulator does or what it is? Does it completely replace the o2 sensor and send false signals to the comuter?? Do they make one for the 4.0????

thanks

It is a resistor that plugs in place of the 02 sensor and sends a false signal to the computer making it think the engine is runing correctly. The only application they work on is vehicles with multipule 02 sensors. It replaces the rear sensor, that way the primary 02 sensors still control the fuel mixture, but the rear sensor can't alter anything (the computer thinks it is working perfect, so it dosen't think it needs to alter anything). They don't make one for the 4.0L, infact the only ones I have seen comertially available are for the latest generation Firebird/Camero and Mustang.

I don't think that the O2 sensors are that different. I know of some who use the Mustang O2 simulator on other V8 powered Fords, especially when they don't have cats.

jjue is correct. i have seen these on ford trucks/broncos. i think they will work on just about all ford V6/V8's with front and rear O2's. understand this, there is no point in using these unless you're gonna cut the cats off...

Actually, there is no piont in using them at all! They won't help enough to make any difference in the performance of the 4.0L, and anyone that is ignorant enough to remove/gut their cats must not care enough about the fact that they are in fact hurting their performance.
