I completely redid my EGR system and I'm still getting an intermit rough idle can you eliminate all EGR sensors in addition to the Rear O2 sensor if I order a chip from you? Hell what other emissions can I get rid of? Might as well take 'em all off, their just going to cause continued problems on my truck with almost 193,000 miles on it.
ryf said:there are states where emmissions aren't checked and inspections aren't done, such as Ohio which has no inspections at all, and sniffers only in major citys and suburbs. When I lived in Coastal NC, yearly inspection which covered safety systems, no sniffer, bigger cities had them, so we would put 3+" exhaust on a truck and split the tubing on top of a cat, drive a 3" tube through a flared end, and weld it all up and you had a cat that looked there, no turbulence and no cat.... now honestly that was too much work, but it worked.
I agree you should follow the laws for where you live, and because the backpressure does help torque for this vehicle, you might as well leave in the cat... ALOT of people won't believe leaving the CAT in is better, I didnt, and alot of people will try it anyway, I did, and seeing as I am not a tree hugger, if you wana cut it off, go for it...
If you wana hug trees.... why not bug the racing circuits, they just drive around in circles poluting your enviroment... at least I'm driving to work and paying taxes supporting the unemployed, prisoners, and anyone else on state aid. or support the death penalty so less people are helping pollute your enviroment...
Btw, tree huggers... I see your driving the same fuel wasting SUV I am... so its not like you REALLY care, you just want a soap box to stand on. I'm not trying to flame anyone at all... but if you drive an SUV, your as much part of the problem wasting natural resources... so if you cared, you would either not own a car, and only ride public transport, or own a hybrid or at least a more efficient car... My friends 00 impala sedan (not my LS) got on a BAD day 25MPG and on freeways/road trips hit 30mpg bone stock... so I would say, this argument isn't really anything more than pots calling kettles black, since we are a collection of fuel wasting people, which is a non-recoverable natural resource, as we all know.. so lets play nice and keep the tree hugging out of the conversation... K?
I might not even be breaking any laws...I just talked to a buddy of mine who is pretty good with cars and emissions laws. He said Federal law (with the exception of Cali) states that vehicles are only required to pass emissions testing up to 100,000 miles and any non-maintenance emissions part is to be covered under dealer warranty up to 100,000 miles. After your vehicle has reached 100,000 miles they just write you off when you go in for testing. California is the exception, all vehicles manufactured after 1982 are required to meet OEM emissions specs for that particular year, make, and model of the vehicle.ryf said:...I DID state "You should follow the laws for where you live"...
TheRookie - Thank you! you have finally made sense to me what I have always thought was true, except every car buff always explained that back pressure was good for a motor so I doubted what I thought was the truth. I now understand how exhaust flow works and how back pressure is something completely different and bad for our motors.TheRookie said:*sigh* NO engine loves or needs backpressure. Backpressure is the enemy. What you do want and need is flow. The 2 are often confused. I have done about 20 write ups on the differences on this board alone. Do a search for like my name and backpressure and flow. Hopefully you will learn about the differences as I really dont feel like typing it all again.
Yer good dude, I remembered what you said about not posting on this again. Althought it is kinda related to the thread topic...ryf said:r37ribution : please don't be upset if I don't respond! shoot me a Pm or start a new thread, I will gladly discuss that with you!
