Time to take the Mach 1 in for emissions testing. Here's the catch... I have a switch on the battery cable which isolates the battery from the electronics so the battery won't discharge from sitting too long.

When they do an OBD II test here they just hook into the OBDII port and look for codes. I know a few people who have replaced their batteries, or disconnected and reconnected their battery shortly before their emissions test. When they pull the codes they can see that the battery had been disconnected and they get FAILED and told they have to return after XX number of miles or XX number of restarts.

I don't know how many miles or restarts I would need to do before the car will pass. Any suggestions??

It usually takes around 50-100 miles for the monitors to set.

If I recall correctly I did it after about two days of around town driving and was fine. Probably less than 20 miles with a little highway driving.

Guess I better start driving:rolleyes: Funny how in order to pass a pollution test I have to drive more than I would normally. Makes perfect sense:eek:

That's one of the reasons I bought the AutoEnginuity OBD2 setup.. With the Ford module, I can check and see if the monitors have ticked off...

Too bad your in Phoenix.. I'd lend you it to make sure the monitors have reset.

With OBD2 tests you can check the readiness tests with a regular reader. I used to do it for customers that wanted to be sure they were all set before they went in. I believe most of the ACTON readers have that feature built into them

I have an OBDII scanner. I'll plug it in and see what it has to say...

That was easy... Says it's ready and all monitors are ok. :chug:

Glad to hear it! The readiness rests whenever the battery is disconnected for a extended period of time or is rest through the readers. Hate OBD2. I refuse to buy a truck that has it lol
