So I wanted to see if anyone else has any ideas of what this might be...

I drove my 03 4.0 v6 explorer harder than usual, hitting higher speeds. When I came down to a idle at a red light, the high oil temp light would come on and the oil needle would bottom out. But once I started driving again (higher rpm's etc), everything would clear. Once I hit the next stop light it would do this again... This happened for a few minutes, and then disappeared. I haven't driven it as a hard since, so it hasn't come back. I checked my oil level and it was fine. Does anyone have any ideas?

Maybe bad sensor/sender? Check the plug for it too, not sure right off where it is on this engine. Could also have sludge or build up on your oil pump pick-up screen. How old is the oil and what's it's history on oil changes?
