OEM CD player just quit

the cd just quit, acts like it wants to start but ejects and flashes disc error. I hate to have to chnge it out so i run a lens cleaner disc in it three or 4 times with no change. Anyone have an idea what or if it is fixable?

I have the same problem with my 99 xlt. Doesn't anyone have an answer? I don't really want to buy a new stereo.

well, i had this problem in my 96, stoped working, and i believe it is the laser read, i took it to my audio guy (knows what he's talking about) looked at it and told me it was a bad laser, the laser's are expenisve to fix, so he told me to go ahead and buy a new head unit. I believe it would be the same in your case.

You can probably pick up an exact replacement on ebay cheap.

I've had an odd issue or two with my 98 MACH radio. Removing the unit for other work fixed mine the first time, and the second on purpose. It didn't work this latest time, but try it cheap.

Try removing the unit for a good ten minutes. Mine is sokme kind of logic error, maybe you can be so fortunate. Good luck,
