Ok, for a while now my truck has been making a hollow type noise over small bumps, I figured it was warn out axle pivot bushings, or the play in know I have in my left upper balljoint because the pinch bolt won't pinch any more....Anyway on a recent offroading trip I noticed the same noise, only louder when wheeling through some deep snow with some pretty liberal throttle. The sound this time was repetetive though, like wheel hop causing noise or something.... Well I final have someone say it sounds like the middle of the car, not the front, so I get underneath and notice my (bent) tcase skid plate is real close to the t-case so I pull it off and go through the same place....no noise, my entire drivetrain is jumping up and down....Duff tranny crossmember looks good, bolts are tight, haven't inspected engine mounts (0 degrees out last night). Any ideas on what to do, if this is normal, or what to check would be great.

How close is real close? The drive train will move some (up and down 1/8" or so at the t-case) whether the mounts are good are not. The weaker the tranny mount the more it will move.

The only way to perminatley stop the drive train from moving is to install solid mounts.

Real close may have been like touching at one point so I guess its not too far from normal. Haven't been out to the parking lot yet to check the rubber and stuff but I'm still going to check them. Thanks for the info.
