........good day one and all :cool:

now then, i have just been given a tough(for me anyway),decision to make.
i have just been offered a v8 lpg converted range rover, ex police, on an s plate, with star ship miles on it unfortunatly(170 000), brand new air bags on the air suspension, full brakes all around plus other stuff for £2500. the lpg is brand new also, multi point.
now, i know the miles are up, but they are rigarousley serviced every 6000 miles, arnt they?
it runs and drives like a dream.
should i sell my explorer and buy it, or not?
if i sell whats she worth?
w plate year 2000 north face, 106000 miles,with all the bits now fixed.

mick :eek::confused:

Hmm......I can only say this, you have fixed your Explorer and also know it very well-Yes the Rangy may have been well serviced and make some sense, but you would not get a lot for your Ex even if she is perfect, people are just not payiing what they are worth because of the congestion charge, fuel costs and the fact that many people know nothing about them and often cant compare a good one with a bad one as they are rare!

I would keep the Ex myself as yours has had a lot of work done to her and you can trust her now- The Ex police car has a lot of extra miles that could start showing now- another thing, I know lpg makes sense, but for me they introduce another thing that can and does go wrong- causing a mess thats hard to define from known intake and electrical faults, I have read posts here regarding just that!
I hope that helps-------Better the devil you know mate.

I too would keep the explorer. If nothing else it does a lot better MPG on petrol than the rangie. Examples of things that go wrong on a rangie are water pump (£400) head gaskets (who knows) steering knuckles wear pretty quickly. If the vehicle is so good why is the owner selling it? You could just be getting a whole load of trouble.

thanks guys, most of what you say was in the back of my mind anyway, drove the rangie yesterday and she is a peach, its cheap cos its through a mate of mine in the trade. i have had many a car from him at ridiculous money with no probs at all. there are around 8 grands worth of bills with the car, for stuff like new suspension all around, new air compressor, new water pump, plus other stuff.
so heres the decision...............its with great trepadation that i have decided to .......................................................keep the explorer :thumbsup::D;)
