Joe based on your results, it appears that the Series 2000 oil (with 15,000 miles on it) came out a lot better than the XL7500 oil (with 9,000 miles on it). Wow, i didn't realize there was that much difference between Series 2000 and the XL7500.

The XL7500 does have a shorter recommended change interval though, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Yet more evidence that I should switch to Series 2000 next time around. ??

Well, I guess it all depends. I think my brother put 10k on the XL7500 and it was still fine. My big problem is dirt, from somewhere. I suspect that is depleting the additives quicker, which is why the TBN dropped so low on the XL7500 (but a chemist I am not). I only really had it in there 'cause of an oil leak, and was putting something cheaper in, and adding a bunch of leak-stop, trying to avoid the $800 repair bill. Turned out it was the rear seal, and not a gasket, so it was a lost cause. I've got so many cars to keep up on that I just got around to doing the analysis before I put the Series 2000 back in (now that the rear seal is replaced). And before I did all of that, I wanted to give it a run of seafoam, and a new PCV valve, which has been an ordeal in itself. I'm looking forward to the next analysis after I get all of this done. Hopefully I see good results, else I'll start to get worried.

My guess is that XL7500 has less additive than Series 2000 to begin with, so therefore it's TBN results would deplete faster just because of that...that's my guess...perhaps one of the AMSOIL experts knows.
 






Yes, that's the difference for sure. I believe that they are the same base stock, but I've also seen some oil analysis results that were better with the XL7500. In any case, I gotta get things cleaned up, and monitor it closely. I need a "work on truck vacation" to get everything done (and that's only if I send the family on their own vacation!). ;)
 






I'll be posting new oil analysis data fairly soon (maybe about 2-3 months from now) and this will probably be my last analysis with AMSOIL 10W-30. I plan to make the switch to AMSOIL 0-W30 Series 2000. Hopefully it won't leak out of my wet rear main. 10W doesn't.

I am hopeful that I will be able to approach Al Franklins TBN numbers with the Series 2000...conversation with Joe/rizzjc made me think... Al was using Series 2000, and I was not...therefore I had less additive to begin with, so it's no wonder my TBN score was so much worse. (!)

Oh, and I am also going to switch to the EA air filter and the new AMSOIL oil filter (the one that replaces the SDF-15).
 






I ended up with a pile of the SDF11 that my truck uses, so it'll be a while before I switch to the EaO. Already put them in both of my Mom's car though.
 






Latest oil analysis on my 5.0L. The first, done at 120k miles on truck, and 15k on oil (column 1). Next one done at 134k miles on truck, and 9k on oil (column 2). First sample is of Amsoil Series 2000 0W30, and second is of Amsoil XL7500 5W30 (long story, not to be covered here). Last column is 140k on truck, 5k on oil, after switching back to Series 2000 (and after a seafoam and replacing of my PCV valve and hoses, replacing the EGR, and cleaning of the intake).

If it still looks OK at 10k, then I'll do it once after that to set my change interval. I suspect I'll be looking at about a 10k interval.

The data presented below is from my '97 5.0L using Amsoil Bypass filtration. The oil used is Amsoil XL-7500 5W/30 ( Dead Link Removed ). The mileage on this oil sample is 7000 miles.

The full flow filter (Amsoil EaO-15) was not changed at this sample interval. The bypass filter (Amsoil EaBP-90) was not changed.

The analysis was performed by Blackstone Labs ( Dead Link Removed ).

The first column represents the current sample, the second represents Blackstone’s average of data collected for this type motor.

Blackstone's comments: We've seen some very nice wearing Ford 5.0L engines, a type that can match most of the Japanese engines in wear if they are handled right. Universal averages show typical wear metals for oil from this type engine after about 3,460 miles run on the oil. Your oil was in use far more miles, and we found all wear at better than average levels and in the correct balance. This type oil appears to be treating your 121,200 mile engine well and we found no contaminants from the fuel or cooling systems in this sample. The TBN was 5.5, still okay for more miles. Try more.
 












after running RP with a K&N oil filter for 6500 km (4039 miles), i'm not too impressed with it. My truck did have 269,798 km (167,645) when the sample was taken, and to my best knowledge, first time run on synthetic.

the tbn was low, and i don't think RP 5w30 is good for extended use. I am running RP for this oil change, and will be sampling it at the same time as the last one. If the results don't improve, i'm switching to AMSoil.

i did have an intake manifold leak that i fixed 300km before i put in this oil for the run. hopefully next time its lower and it just is indeed residue.

do we have stock hyperurtec pistons? that would explain the silicon increase
 






I see all OA from Blackstone Labs. Anyone use Oil Analyzers through Amsoil? I assume Blackstone is superior but wanted to know if anyone could provide comparisons. Thanks
 






Anybody with more knowledge then me have any input and advise on this first analysis that i had done switched from regular oil to Valvoline 5w40 Blended Synthetic.
