When I bought this '04 the guy told me he had been using full synthetic. Pennzoil I believe.
I Bought it at around 76K (NOV of '14) and now has just over 80K
Should I continue to use full synthetic or go back to conventional 5w30

Keep using synthetic

Besides price, using synthetic only has benefits.

Synthetic oil is worth it IMO. My 157K mile Ex runs like a top. Been using Mobil 1 5w30 all it's life.

Synthetic is better at keeping the engine clean. Still should do oil changes every 5k. You can go to conventional, what really matters is oil change frequency.

I ended up getting Pennzoil Platinum. Price was $21 on a sale.
Walmart didnt have any 5W30 full synthetic in the Mobil 1. Guess it's popular.

The question is, why would you go back to conventional? :D

Just like it has already been posted, in this day and age, there is no reason not to use synthetic. Even on the price side of things, there are at least a few high quality synthetics that are very reasonably priced if you do your homework.

I actually save money using Amsoil synthetics (not that you have to use only Amsoil, but just stating what I run). At minimum I get double the mileage on the oil than I ever would using conventional or many other off the shelf "synthetics" that are really hydrocracked group 3 and not group 4/5 like they should be for the price, but that's a whole other issue. Now to be clear I definitely would not recommend running extended intervals without top quality synthetics and backing your decisions with proper oil analysis testing. With that being said, I literally spend the same if not less on my setups than I would even running the cheapest garbage you could find on any auto parts shelf.

Just my 2 cents.

EDIT: I see you already went with synthetic. Got me while I was replying lol.

This will be my first oil change on this and I know it's going to be so much fun being able to do it without a jack for once.
I have a '99 Taurus that sits pretty low and I have to damn near put that thing at my jacks max height limit!

Yeah. I have always used Motocraft filters on my Taurus. FRAM are junk IMO. I always had leaks.

you could go halfway using high mileage synthetic blend, I've been using castrol synthetic blend for both of my lincolns (at 120k) and mountaineer at 150k with no issues. I recently bought a 2000 jeep wj with 185k miles and the PO just used the cheapest dino oil he could find but religiously changed it at 3k miles, it still runs very good (that;s why i bought it).

the only car i used synthetic is my camry hybrid because it requires synthetic (0w20)
