I have an oil leak, The Stealership tells me it's located at the Oil Filter Adapter, either the Adapter or gasket is what's leaking. Has anyone ever come across this on their 4.6l engines. I imagine the Oil Filter Adapter is pretty easy to replace. I have the shop manual, so I have already read up on this and purchased a Fel-Pro Gasket to replace. If anyone has had the pleasure of replacing either the gasket or adapter. Please let us know some tips and tricks with swapping this part out. Thank you... Here is a quick pic that I compiled.

I have the 4.6 on the Lincoln Mark VIII. That gasket is a messy job to replace, coolant drains from it along with the oil.
Have not changed it myself, but have read about it.
The oil sender is around there also, sometimes they leak making it look like its the gasket, much easier to change.

I have the same problem. It looks very difficult to access. What did you end up doing? Was it the gasket or adapter?
