I have a question...I have a 99 2WD Explorer Limited SOHC V6 and I'm getting a couple of problems. The main one right now is when the explorer is cold or has been sitting a day or so. When starting the oil pressure gauge stays at zero and the check gauge light is on for the first five minutes or so. After that it pops up to normal and the light stays there. It is fine the rest of the day but it happens again the next morning. Could this be a gauge problem or possible the oil pump? There are no diagnostic codes listed except for the one below from another problem.

The other problem is code P0171 and the rough idle when it's cold outside. I believe this is the M12 problem and the dealer is looking at it (and hopefully fixing it)tomorrow.

Great otherwise and good mileage except for various buttons and knobs failing around the power seats. So far the lumbar switch has failed and the passenger heated switch seat sticks on. Any ideas on where to purchase replacements for these two?

I have a '99 SOHC 4x4 Explorer sport, have the exact same oil problem. It's most likely the oil send unit. So far as the rough idle, could be a few things. I've already had 00M12 done, so it's not that for me. I cleaned my MAF (Dead Link Removed ) and just cleaned my IAC (idle air control) today. The virdict seems to be that the IAC is failing, but I will know tomorrow if it idles rough again.

Sounds like you need the 00M12 recall done... if that doesn't fix it have the dealer check your MAF and IAC while you are there, it will only take them a second.

Good Luck

Well, I knew I shoulda searched before doing my post. You are having the same exact problem as I am. I'll check the sheet I was given when I purchased it. Never heard about the oom12 recall though. I'll look into it. 99 XLT 36k miles.
