oil in water 97 exployer

Im new to the forum. I just bought a 97 Exployer that runs really great but it has oil in the water. It has no water in the oil. I did a forum search for this problem but it keeps comming back a blank page. Any info on links for this problem would be appreciated. I like to think I am a little better than a do it yourselfer so head removal would not be a problem for me. Just know that there are procedures that need to be followed on these OHC engines. How many miles? Is the car running hot? I'd do a leakdown test before I started tearing into the motor.

it has 200k. No it does not run hot. I let it run for at least 30 minutes and it will get up to 200 and then come back down to 195. Ive also verified the gage with my scanner and it is accurate numbers. It had a lean code for bank one but i cleared it and it has not come back yet. Engine runs good with no misses when you reve it up .

oil in water? whats the water you are referring too? the vehicle does not carry a tank to hold water.....

I assume you have trans fluid in your radiator,check your tranny fluid level and condition.If that's what it is you need a new radiator.

if water == coolant, you can also have oil in coolant not trans fluid if you have a tow package.... they do use engine coolant to cool engine oil.... the adaptor on the oil filter housing.
