I just had some oil leaks fixed. One leak was the oil pan gasket. I thought about doing it myself but never found the time. There seemed to be a lot of stuff to take off. I figured I would just pay for it since the rear seal needed replacing also and I have no way to drop the transmission myself.

The Pan gasket is changed with the motor out. You have to lift the motor way up to get the pan off.. and at that point your taking the motor out...

Pep Boys did it for $800. I didn't even shop around. Kinda kicking myself for not doing so. $800 was for the oil pan gasket part. I was tired of putting in a quart every two weeks. Sometimes once a week if I drove it more.

If you can hold the engine with a jack, you can unbolt the mounts & jack it up to clear the cross member. However you need to make sure eveything is disconnected so nothing catches. The tranny will have to be unbolted & moved rearward, or removed. You also need to take the hood off for clearance.
I've been researching it since I have a leak also.
Something to try that has helped me. Try to tighten all the oil pan bolts. There were a few on mine that were a little loose. This stopped alot of the seeping I got.

Also I don't know if this can be done but could the front cross member be taken out? Then it's an easy shot to the pan.

i just fixed my driversside valve cover leak, i had little holes rusted through around the bolts. there's a lot to take off of that thing.

At that point you have basically pulled the motor.. All that is left is lifting it.. and you might was well use a hoist to hold the motor up as you do the work on the pan and change the oil pump since your there..
