My Oil Pressure Gauge is on the other side of the Pin. The pin seems too tall for it to jump, so could it have gone backward? I checked the oil level and the car runs ok too. It happened after the batter died. I disconnected it and did a full recharge...I started the car and then noticed it.

Has any one seen this before and how do I fix it?

Anyone ever see this?

I've never seen that happen before BUT IIRC those pins pull right out AND on top of that, your oil pressure gauge is just an analog idiot light. That means it reads about the middle when the oil pressure sensor (its not really a sending unit) detect 5psi of pressure. Anything less and it reads low. So, once you get the clear cover off the gauge cluster you can pull the needle, start the truck and put it back on around the center.

Hi, when I bought my 02 explorer with 165K it had the same issue. Don't know why as did the current owner "Worked for ford also". I just dissembled the panel, put back the marker (over the stopper). (Turn in the correct direction). can't remember but think it was counter-clockwise.
Good luck

I have the same issue on a 1999 Sport which i just acquired. It looks really odd to see the oil pressure needle the wrong side of the pin or stop. I guess the only way to fix it is to take the gauge cluster apart. Goodness knows how it got to the other side of the pin in the first place.
