Almost exactly a year ago, the oil pressure sending switch/sensor failed on my truck and I lost all the motor oil. I put a new unit on and all was fine, until today, when it failed again! I left a nice fat trail of oil down my street.
So I’m going to go buy another new one, but I’m thinking, is something causing them to fail, or did I just buy a poorly made one last year.
I change my oil regularly, truck has 160,000 on it...
My old truck went 370,000 with never a failure of that part.
Thoughts?

I think its Defective
I had one leak new
Bought a 2nd motorcraft unit

Only other thing that will allow pressure to Build in the crankcase is the PCV valve/ system

Okay good to know. I’m going to try a different brand and cross my fingers. And I’ll check pcv just because.

yes check the PCV valve make sure its able to breath! Good advice there

Be careful the oil pressure port is tapered if you over tighten it into the engine it can crack the engine block!
(the thing the oil sensor screws into)
