Just did a search for the location of the oil sending unit on a 5.0 and all I could find was info on the 4.0s.

Shop quoted me $90 do have it done. They also said that it can be done w/ oil still in the engine, is this true?

On the driver side of the front cover-right behind the water pump.
half way down--look for wires.

It can be seen from wheel well if you crank the wheels all the way left I believe

yes, oils stays put.

unless you don't install it right

Thanks for the help.
What exactly do you mean by " the front cover"?

I think I see it. On the topside of the engine, running north to south, in a threaded hole?

Is it not on the top of the engine, here is a pic:

Yo Green, where did you snap that pic from, the wheel well?
If so which plug wire is that?

Wow, looking at V8Boatbuilder's writeup, it may be worth $90 to have it done!

I would think there would be an easier way. He went through quite a bit to get more room and access to try to put in a different sender. I would think if you could get a socket over the sender, you could remove it with an extension and universal. ??

THat would be one heck of an extention.

If I can get my hand back there to disconnect the harness (haven't tried yet) then maybe I'll give it a shot.

BTW, thanks for everyone's help.
