Ford 302ci Long Block 5.0L Automotive Engine with GT40 Heads 302 Motor 5.0 | eBay

Date Stamped 11/9/00

$2395

Put in your cam, springs and rockers and have an all new oem motor for under $3000 no hassle. I've been hearing a lot of local engine shop run around b.s. horror stories lately. You could even part it out and make money off it.

I knew I should have taken that pizza delivery job this summer...

Still can’t believe they didn’t paint the blocks from the factory.

That must be some NOS from a dealer that saved one or more. I recall the short blocks were around $1400 also, that was 10-15 years ago though. I wish they had build those last 302's with a different piston, and a custom piston made for that 9.5 or so compression. A new computer program available to flash in would have been a nice touch also, and a log manifold plus two mufflers and tail pipes, etc. Lots of things could be done, but you/we have to do it, Ford ignores old models.

The sellers items are all boat related so it could have been kept around for a volvo penta 5.0 replacement BUT they did make gt40 equipped efi engines.

NOS engines and transmissions do pop up here and there still and it's smart to jump on them if you have the extra cash. I know where theres 3 oem ford longblock crate motors for 94-95 mustang 5.0 (e7 heads/ho cam) collecting dust in a warehouse I could get for $1050 shipped. Same place I picked up the new 2004 v6 4r70w trans for $400:eek:. They are a big national powertrain warehouse just trying to make room.

Considering the going rate for just a reman'd short block rotating assembly is $1400-1800, I'd say that motors a bargain.

Add up:
Lower Intake
Balancer
Crank Sensor
Water Pump
Timing Chain Cover
Thermostat Neck
Oil Filter Adapter
Oil Pan
Valve Covers
NEW GT40p Heads

I agree Mikey, a coat of Ford Gray would look right at home on it.

Those are great core engines to build up for a boat or any typical SBF daily driver etc.

That 4R70W is a bargain, well done. I got a used one for about $325 shipped, to build for my good SUV. I could use one more good core trans, for my Ranchero when I get to that last. I wish there was some company building old 351C's using the 3V heads, that'd make a sweet crate engine. It would be in Australia no doubt, so don't tell me about it if it does exist.
