OMG OMG OMG! I'm SO SCREWED!

you guys are lucky, my motor only lasted 95000 miles, but i was the third owner, and it seems that the previous owners didnt take care of the engine like i did, when i started diagnosing the dead engine, i found mud in my cooant, and it was running on only 2 cylinders and was shaking like a muthaf**ker. like i said, you are lucky and im glad i work for an auto parts company that i can get stuff fairly cheap. :burnout:

Ok, Green Sand Boy is getting what I've said this whole time.

Uhh...I have reason to believe these engines arent as great as (for example) toyota 3TC and 2TC. I had one that went 260k is it was ok cept for some cuttin out. Still got one in the garage, even tho I dont have that type of car anymore.

I've had my best experiences with Toyota.
and Dude, those 2 quotes of me aren't dissing the 3.0 or the 4.0

I did get a little upset at it...
I beat on my 3.0 after the second head gasket job cause I didnt care bout my taurus at all, but it laughed at me and asked "IS THAT ALL YOU GOT?!?!", lik,e my toyota engines.
They're good with proper maintenence, as I said already. I just wouldnt own another after the issues I've dealt with in the past.

they (ford and toyota) both have their strong points and weaknesses.

On a whole, the 4.0 is a very durable engine. I just rebuilt a tranny on one that had 274k miles and was going strong in a 91 explorer. Used no oil and idled very well.

By contrast, one of Toyota's failures was the head gaskets on the 3.0 liter v6 found in many early 90's pickup trucks. They were notorious for going out.

I have the 22re 4 banger in my 89 pickup truck that hasnt skipped a beat and it has a fair number of miles on it.

Every manufacturer has bad engines.

Toyota's failures was the head gaskets
I heard that they also did a bad job on either head gaskets or torquing the head bolt recommendations on the 7M-GTE MA70's (thats 3rd gen supra with straight 6 turbo, not the smooth body style btw).

My 4ag in my corolla gts had the same area of the head gasket blown as 90% of people on another forum I post at. drivers side of #4.

True, VERY true about all car companies have the 'sucky' points.

straight-six motors, they rock!

Couldnt agree more.
2JZ-GTE (Twin Turbo straight 6) from the JZA80 (LOL! thats the latest Supra) whoop on almost ALL production cars.
Wish I could afford one =( Used '93 are going for like $19k-$30k. Thing is, most people beef them up and expect what they paid for the parts other than outright buying the car..
golly...what I'd do if I got one. Ego would run SKY HIGH! LOL!!!
