Its come time to finally put in my sub into the new Explorer. I'm stuck on one thing though. I have the Amped version of the Thunderform, so it accepts pre-amp and line-level inputs. I had it running on pre-amp(RCA Cables) in my old one with my Kenwood headunit. Its an older one so its really not the best. I noticed alot of interferance with it. When the track would change, or when it would begin to play a CD it could be heard through the sub.

The main reason I put in this head unit was because I had no CD player in it, and I had it on hand, and for free. Now that the new one has a CD player in it. And it does all that the Kenwood does I want to wire it up to the ThunderForm using the line-level inputs. I know the stock radio probably doesn't put out much, neither did the Kenwood. The stock works well, and with a sub it will be fine. So are there any draw backs in wiring it up this way? I Know the quality of the sound won't be top notch, but I can accept that. Thanks guys!

Turns out that Ford has briliantly put a crossover on their systems. Something I didn't know. The sub barely moves connected to the stock system. I plug in my Kenwood and it moves! Turns out when they switched my radio because of the blank display, they swapped in a Mach head unit from a Mounty. Is there a way around this. Is there a sub out that I can tap off of to get it to work. I like the look of a stock system. And the new one has neat features. I just like the idea of a completely stealth system.

Thanks for the Help!

How much you want for your sub Boomin? ;)

Still haven't figured any of this out. I'm really missing the stock radio. I have horrible radio signal right now and I can't even listen to it in most places. I've been in contact with Crutchfield for the past several days via email and they've been pretty much BSing me blaming everything except for what it really is. I've concluded through my own troubleshooting that there is lack of low frequencies being produced from the stock radio. So it looks like I'm basically SOL. Unless someone wants to temporairly donate thier Premium radio to me for a day or two for me to test that out on :p. What a pain this is!!!
